Crafty Crush - MOCHA Atlanta

No, it's not the MOCA. -or the MOMA! It's even better.....It's MOCHA, the Museum of Contemporary Handmade Art, which is in the making as we speak right here in Atlanta! Don't let the title deceive you. While the word Museum can offer a stuffy, behind the ropes impression, I assure you the concept of the business will not. MOCHA also cleverly doubles as a hint to it's ulterior motive to serve you tasty beverages while you look/shop for awesome, handmade stuff!

I found out about it recently when I joined the GWW (Girl Wide Web) @ BUST. There was a blog about it's inception in the New Links! Here's a more formal blurb about MOCHA from the blog:

"ATTENTION: GEORGIA ARTISTS...
I'm in the process of opening a gallery/book cafe.. At the Irwin
Street Market in Atlanta between the Old Fourth Ward and Inman
Park.. It's in the works currently and not even officially named yet,
but I want to put the word out that we are going to be looking for
local artists who are interested in showing/selling their art.

In a nutshell, as a gallery/book cafe, want to provide:
*Affordable, handmade, local art.. (Recycled products are
especially encouraged but not required!)
*Coffee, tea, snacks, and breakfast for those on the go OR
those who want to stay to hang out and browse or do work..
*New, used and donated books for reading on site, or purchase
(a percentage of book sales will go to a local literacy charity)

We hope to open for business at the end of September...

If you are interested or would like more information, please
respond to this bulletin, or email me at pgbc08@gmail.com

Thanks for your time!"

I think the thing I like the most about it is that it combines my favorite things: art & tasty beverages! I also admire their chutzpah in becoming entrepreneurs without a business degree! It's businesses with balls like these that are preserving the American (& Crafty!) Dream and I totally support that! I hope that this business does well and am really excited for it's projected opening @ the end of the month. I'm sure it will be a another great platform for more Craft/Art growth in Atlanta!
